Terms of Service
Last updated 3 October 2026
These terms govern your use of JobNerve, a service run by JobNerve, LLC, a Wisconsin company (“JobNerve”, “we”, “us”). They are deliberately short and in plain English. You agree to them by ticking the box when you sign up, or by using JobNerve.
The short version. Pay for what you use, do not abuse the service, and your data stays yours. You can export it or leave whenever you like. If we ever shut down, you get warning and time to get your records out.
Your account
You need an account to use JobNerve, and you are responsible for what happens under it, including what the people you invite do. Keep passwords to yourself, give each person their own login, and remove people when they leave. Tell us promptly if you think an account has been compromised.
You must be old enough to enter a contract and be using JobNerve for a business.
What we provide
A hosted service, as it exists at the time you use it. We add and improve things regularly. Occasionally we remove something that is not working; if it is something you rely on, we will give notice rather than pull it out from under you.
We aim to keep the service available and to hold your data carefully, but we do not promise it will never be down. Maintenance happens, and so do faults.
Paying
Free trial. A new account starts with a 14-day free trial. You enter a card when you sign up, and nothing is charged during the trial. When it ends, your plan starts automatically and that card is charged every month until you cancel. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing.
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis until cancelled. Prices are shown on the site before you subscribe. If we change pricing, existing subscribers get notice before it applies to them.
You can cancel at any time and your subscription runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate partial periods.
If a payment fails, the app tells you, and you have 14 days to update your card. Everything keeps working during those 14 days. After that the account becomes read-only, so you can still see and export everything but not add or change work, until the payment goes through.
Taking payments from your customers
If you turn on online payments, your customers pay you by card or bank transfer through our payment processor, Stripe. Bank payments: a processing fee (1%, at most $15) is added to your customer’s total and shown to them before they pay, so you receive the full invoice amount. If you turn on Raise prices to cover card costs on an estimate or invoice, the prices your customer sees are raised to cover payment costs instead — it is simply your price, with no separate fee or charge, the same whichever way your customer pays — and the bank fee comes out of what you receive. Card payments: your customer pays the invoice amount, and our fee of 3.5% plus 30¢ per payment is taken from what you receive. If you want to recover card costs from your customers, build them into your prices or offer a discount for paying by bank — don’t add a separate card fee, which card-network rules and some state laws restrict. You also agree to Stripe’s own terms for connected accounts when you set up payments.
You are the seller. The work, the invoice and the relationship with your customer are yours, and so is responsibility for any refund, dispute, chargeback or reversed bank payment on money paid to you. Because of how Stripe works, it may take a disputed, returned or refunded amount from our account rather than yours.
Refunds carry a cost that is not returned. When you refund a customer, the processor sends the payment back but keeps the fee it charged for handling it in the first place — a percentage of what your customer paid, plus a fixed amount per payment. That fee has already come out of our account and the processor does not return it. You agree to repay us the processing cost on the original payment, to the extent the processor does not refund it to us, on the same terms and by the same methods set out below. We are not charging you for refunding your customer — refund whoever you like, whenever you like. We are recovering money a third party kept, which we paid so that you could be paid in full. Our own fee on a card payment (3.5% plus 30¢) is not returned when you refund it either.
If that happens, you owe us that money. You agree to repay the full amount, plus any dispute or return fee the processor charges us, within 10 days of us asking you in writing. After that, unpaid amounts carry interest at 1.5% per month (or the highest rate the law allows, if lower), and you agree to cover the reasonable costs of collecting it, including legal fees.
How we recover it. We may take it out of payouts owed to you, set it off against anything else we owe you, or debit the bank account connected to your payments. If none of those cover it, the balance is still owed to us directly. This applies to bank payments reversed for any reason — insufficient funds, a closed account, or a customer telling their bank the payment was not authorised — as well as to card chargebacks.
These obligations outlive your account. Cancelling your subscription, turning payments off, or closing your business does not clear money you already owe us under this section. Card networks and banks allow disputes months after a payment, so this survives for as long as any payment made through us can still be reversed.
Personal guarantee. If you accept these terms on behalf of a company, the person accepting them personally guarantees the repayment obligations in this section, and agrees we can pursue them personally if the company does not pay. We ask for this for the same reason every card processor does: we front the money on your behalf, and a company can be dissolved. It applies only to money genuinely owed under this section — never to your subscription or anything else.
Reserves and limits. For a new account, or one with repeated or unpaid disputes, we may hold back a reasonable share of payouts for a period, cap how much can be paid online, or pause online payments. We will tell you why, and release anything held once the risk has passed.
When a customer disputes a payment, we will tell you promptly by email and in the app, and pass on anything the processor asks for. Help us respond with the evidence you have: the signed estimate, photos, messages and proof of completion. The better the evidence, the more disputes get resolved in your favour — which is the outcome we both want.
Your data is yours
Everything you put into JobNerve — your customers, estimates, jobs, invoices, photos and records — belongs to you. We do not own it, sell it, or use it to train anything. We handle it as described in the Privacy Policy.
We use it only to run the service for you: storing it, showing it to the people you have authorized, and sending the documents you ask us to send. We may use anonymous, aggregated statistics (for example, how many estimates are sent across all accounts) to understand and improve the product, in a form that cannot identify you or your customers.
Getting your data out
You can export your data at any time, in a standard format, without asking us and at no cost. This is a permanent feature, not a favor. We think anyone asking you to run your business on their software owes you an unlocked door.
If JobNerve ever shuts down
If we ever discontinue the service, we will give you at least 90 days notice by email, keep exports working for that whole period, and not delete anything until it has passed. If we are acquired, these commitments carry over to whoever takes it on.
Fair use
Do not use JobNerve to break the law, send spam, store other people’s data without the right to, attack the service or other users, or attempt to access another company’s data. Do not resell the service as your own without an agreement with us.
If you use the crew location feature, it is your responsibility to tell your employees about it and to comply with the employment and privacy laws that apply where you operate. We give you the switches; how you use them on your own staff is on you.
Communications you send
JobNerve sends estimates, invoices and reminders to the customers you enter. You are responsible for having the right to contact them and for what those messages say. Sending unsolicited bulk email through the service is not permitted.
Ending it
You can close your account whenever you want. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or does not pay, and except in serious cases we will contact you first and give you a chance to put it right. Canceling your subscription does not delete your data, so you can export it or come back to it later. If you want it deleted, ask us at jobnerve@gmail.com from the owner’s email address and we will delete it within 60 days of your request.
The legal necessities
JobNerve is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost business. Our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you put into JobNerve. It is a record-keeping tool, not an accountant, a lawyer or a payroll service — check your own numbers before you rely on them.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use JobNerve after that means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, United States, and any dispute will be handled by the courts there.
